2016-17 will mark Mr. Karl’s 22nd year in the field of education. During this time, he has enjoyed working in diverse school settings, large and small, private and public.

While in Australia, Mr. Karl earned his MBA from the University of LaTrobe.
Mr. Karl sees this upcoming school year as a unique opportunity to provide leadership as Rising Sun Montessori School continues to grow significantly. He and his family look forward to watching our school community grow and flourish in the years ahead.

Robyn Bailey is an alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley, where she graduated with highest honors in American Studies. She has worked with children, aged preschool through 8th grade, in various capacities and settings since she was a teenager, but the time she spent teaching English and IT classes in Brazil was her favorite professional position. A former Montessori student, Robyn is passionate about the Montessori Method and how it positively impacts the growth and development of the child. After spending the last 12 years raising a family, Robyn is thrilled to be back in the classroom working in a Montessori school.
Robyn has been married to her wonderful husband, Landon, for 12 years. Together, they have two children, Mason and Marissa, who have been in Montessori since they were toddlers. She grew up here in the foothills in Shingle Springs, but has been fortunate to have opportunities to live in Hawaii, Brazil and all over the state of California.
Robyn’s interests include growing food, raising animals, playing volleyball and spending time with her large extended family. She also enjoys traveling with her husband and baking and crocheting gifts for the people she loves. She looks forward to getting to know your children and working with them at Rising Sun Montessori School.
Michelle Burns grew up in Jackson, a small gold rush town, “where everybody knows your name”. After graduating from high school in 2011, Michelle spent time serving as a missionary in Mexico where she taught English and faith formation classes to children ages 2 to 18. Seeing the poor quality of education these children were receiving inspired her to pursue education professionally. She believes that all children, regardless of race, economic status, or ability level deserve to have a safe, beautiful place to learn. She has found her niche in Montessori philosophy and practice and dreams of one day opening a Montessori school for children in extreme poverty, like those whom she worked with in Mexico.
Michelle is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She completed Montessori Teacher Assistant Training this summer and hopes to continue Montessori training soon.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys hiking, road trips, and coffee shops (but not coffee). Her favorite movie is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She is a fan of the Free Hugs movement and strongly believes that, “A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.”
